Spot rubber hits Rs 170/kg again

Spot rubber hits Rs 170/kg again

Kottayam, June 12

Physical rubber prices finished higher on Saturday.

Intensified rains and a better closing on the National Multi Commodity Exchange (NMCE) catalysed the day's sentiments and the market made all-round gains mainly on covering purchases.

Sheet rubber increased to Rs 170 from Rs 169 a kg but the volumes continued to be thin due to short supply.

Futures gain

In futures, the June series improved to Rs 171.27 (170.50), July to Rs 167.64 (166.70), August to Rs 162.48 (159.97) and September to Rs 158.50 (156.30) a kg for RSS 4 on the NMCE.

Spot rates were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 170 (169); RSS-5: 167.50 (167); ungraded: 165 (164.50); ISNR 20: 151.50 (150.50) and latex 60 per cent: 113 (113).
