Spot rubber prices slip

Spot rubber prices slip

Kottayam, May 3

Spot rubber prices declined on Monday. The market fell sharply lacking genuine buyers as most of the players were inactive on fears of further fall in prices. Sheet rubber weakened to Rs 159 from Rs 162 a kg ignoring the marginal gains in domestic futures on the National Multi Commodity Exchange (NMCE).

According to observers, ISNR 20 and latex lost heavily on extremely low demand.

Futures recover

The May RSS4 contracts recovered partially to Rs 158.90 (157.66), June to Rs 162.48 (160.15), July to Rs 161.52 (158.57) and August to Rs 158.95 (156.41) a kg on NMCE. RSS 3 (spot) surrendered to Rs 174.61 (178.91) a kg at Bangkok.

The Tokyo Commodity Exchange remained closed on account of “Constitution Memorial Day”.

Spot rates were (Rs/kg): RSS-4 159 (162); RSS-5 156 (160); ungraded 155 (158); ISNR-20 150 (156) and latex 60 per cent 102.50 (105).
