Spot rubber prices improve


Kottayam, Dec. 31

Domestic rubber prices improved on Friday. On the spot, the market firmed up following the smart gains on the National Multi Commodity Exchange. According to observers, there were no quantity sellers even during the last trading day of the year. The trend continued to be mixed.

According to dealers, sheet rubber improved to Rs 206.50 (206) a kg mainly on covering purchases. The grade finished unchanged at Rs 206.50 a kg both at Kottayam and Kochi as reported by the Rubber Board.

Futures gain

In futures, the January series improved to Rs 210.40 (208.12), February to Rs 215.60 (212.95), March to Rs 220.10 (217.12) and April to Rs 226.90 (223.20) a kg for RSS 4 on the NMCE. Spot rates were: RSS-4: 206.50 (206); RSS-5: 199 (198); ungraded: 195 (195); ISNR 20: 204 (204) and latex 60 per cent: 138.50 (138.50).
